Our client, a global manufacturing organization, is looking for a temporary Benefits Specialist who serves as second-tier support to HR teams. This role acts as the primary liaison with plan vendors and third-party administrators to manage benefits programs in North America and is responsible for resolving complex employee benefit issues beyond the scope of the benefits administration team. The Benefits Specialist ensures compliance, accurate administration, and effective communication of benefits programs. This role is a temporary position covering a leave of absence with the hours of 8-5pm Monday through Friday in office at their Oak Brook office.
Responsibilities:
· Resolve second-level employee benefits issues through HR teams.
· Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators for program administration, compliance, and reporting.
· Develop and implement employee communication programs related to benefits and compensation.
· Facilitate global projects such as wellness programs, annual benefit notices, compliance testing, renewals, and Open Enrollment.
· Coordinate corporate wellness initiatives, including biometric screenings and wellness incentive funding.
· Oversee benefit changes, COBRA administration, FMLA/short-term disability claims, and monthly premium billing.
· Participate in audits and required filings (e.g., 5500s, SARs, government reporting, Summary Plan Descriptions).
· Ensure accurate maintenance of benefit files and adherence to plan rules and regulations.
Requirements:
· Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
· 4+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on benefits administration.
· Proficiency in HRIS systems; Oracle experience preferred.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for reporting and data analysis.
· Strong knowledge of state and federal laws related to benefits administration.
· Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to manage multiple complex projects independently while collaborating effectively with teams.
· High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
