A leading food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role will oversee a team of four AP clerks and ensure the accurate and timely processing of all accounts payable functions. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a hands-on approach and a deep understanding of AP processes in a high-volume environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of Accounts Payable clerks, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Review and approve invoices, payment runs, and reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor vendor accounts, resolve escalated inquiries, and maintain positive vendor relationships.
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines for payments to maximize discounts and avoid late fees.
  • Prepare and analyze AP reports for management, identifying trends and recommending process improvements.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to resolve discrepancies and streamline workflows.
  • Assist with audits and special projects as required.
  • Implement best practices and support continuous improvement initiatives within the AP department.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of accounts payable experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in AP systems and Microsoft Excel; ERP experience preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing or similar high-volume industry is a plus.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
