Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Histology Technician to join our team in Louisville, KY. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in histological techniques, excellent organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset. This role is responsible for supporting high-quality laboratory diagnostics through precise specimen processing and staining procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination using standard histological techniques, including embedding, microtomy, and staining.

• Perform recuts and apply special stains as requested.

• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring all routine maintenance and quality control documentation is completed.

• Clean and sterilize lab equipment, tools, and work areas to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

• Handle and dispose of hazardous waste according to regulatory standards.

• Adhere to all applicable safety, regulatory, and organizational policies and procedures, including HIPAA and OSHA requirements.

• Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues as they arise.

• Work closely with colleagues and supervisors to ensure accurate and timely processing of samples.

• Perform general lab duties as needed, including those associated with Laboratory Assistant, Technician I, and Technician II roles.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Natural Sciences, or a related field; or Associate's degree in a science-related discipline with relevant laboratory experience.

• 2-3 years of hands-on experience in a histology laboratory is required.

• Proficiency in standard and special staining techniques, with a strong focus on quality control.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

• Physical requirements include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Must be flexible to work overtime as needed to meet business demands.
