Job Title: Accountant (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Cleveland (Westside)
Schedule: Full-time | Flexible Hours (Standard: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM) | No regular Saturday work

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This position supports two separate companies with distinct general ledgers and will play a key role in managing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and treasury functions.

The Accountant will work closely with leadership, purchasing, and bookkeeping staff, and will supervise one direct report (a bookkeeper).

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full-cycle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Oversee weekly union and monthly salaried payroll, processed through an external payroll provider (44 employees total)

• Prepare monthly financial statements for both companies

• Manage treasury functions, including check signing authority

• Supervise and support the bookkeeper

• Ensure timely processing of approximately 50 AP checks every 2 weeks

• Maintain oversight of two separate general ledgers

• Handle high-volume AP/AR and occasionally assist with accounting needs for ownership

• Support financial management of businesses with combined $12 million in annual revenue

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in accounting for multiple entities or business units

• Strong knowledge of AP, AR, and payroll processes

• Prior experience with payroll systems (Paycor experience is a plus)

• Comfortable managing financial reporting and treasury functions

• Supervisory experience preferred

• Excellent organizational and communication skills
