An established accounting firm in Culver City is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper on a temp-to-hire basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a client-facing environment and has strong full-cycle bookkeeping experience. The Senior Bookkeeper will manage multiple client accounts, prepare accurate financials, and support month-end and year-end close processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients across various industries

  • Maintain general ledger accuracy, including journal entries and account reconciliations

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

  • Perform bank, credit card, and loan reconciliations

  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes

  • Prepare and post accruals, prepaid expenses, and depreciation entries

  • Ensure financials are tax-ready and support CPAs during tax season

  • Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations as needed

  • Prepare and file 1099s and assist with compliance-related reporting

  • Communicate directly with clients to resolve discrepancies and answer accounting questions

  • Maintain organized and well-documented client files

  • Support process improvements and best practices within the firm

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably within an accounting firm or professional services environment

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles

  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks Online (QBO); experience with other systems is a plus

  • Advanced knowledge of bank and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables preferred)

  • Experience managing multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • Prior experience in a public accounting or outsourced accounting firm

  • Payroll and multi-state payroll exposure

  • Experience preparing tax-ready financials

  • Familiarity with document management and workflow tools
