Histopathology Techniques:
- Prepare and process tissue samples for histopathological analysis, including steps such as fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
- Utilize a range of advanced techniques, including immunohistochemistry and specialized staining methods, to meet the unique needs of each case.
Quality Assurance:
- Uphold the highest standards of quality control and assurance in all histological preparations.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of histology equipment to ensure it operates effectively.
Mentorship and Training:
- Mentor and train junior histotechnicians and interns on histopathology techniques and laboratory procedures.
- Stay informed about best practices and new developments in the field to share with the team.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Ensure accurate and prompt documentation of all procedures, including data entry into the laboratory information management system (LIMS).
- Adhere to safety and regulatory standards, following all laboratory protocols and procedures.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with pathologists to facilitate accurate diagnoses and the interpretation of histopathological results.
- Engage in team meetings to discuss workflow enhancements, case reviews, and strategies for problem-solving.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Associate's degree in Histotechnology or a related discipline; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a histopathology lab, with a solid understanding of histological techniques.
Certifications:
- No HT or HTL certification is required for this position.
Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of histopathology principles, staining techniques, and lab safety protocols.
- Proficient in the operation of laboratory equipment and in using laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require manual dexterity.
- Capability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry out tasks involving fine motor skills.
