Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to lead and oversee the accounts payable operations. This role will manage a team of three accounts payable specialists, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all aspects of the accounts payable process. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a deep understanding of accounts payable processes and financial best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Leadership & Team Management

    • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of three accounts payable specialists.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
    • Ensure the team meets deadlines and maintains high levels of accuracy.
  2. Accounts Payable Operations

    • Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounts payable activities, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements.
    • Ensure proper coding and approval of invoices in accordance with company policies.
    • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, addressing inquiries and resolving discrepancies promptly.
    • Manage payment cycles, including check runs, ACH, and wire transfers.
  3. Process Improvement & Compliance

    • Evaluate and improve accounts payable processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and tax requirements.
    • Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and resolve issues.
    • Assist in audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
  4. Reporting & Analysis

    • Prepare and analyze accounts payable reports, including aging reports and payment forecasts.
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial data.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of direct accounts payable experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in an ERP accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial regulations.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience implementing or improving accounts payable systems and processes.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance, including 1099s and VAT.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and automation tools.
