Legal Assistant - Civil Litigation (California Courts - Remote/Onsite)

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Assistant with strong litigation support skills, particularly in California State and Federal courts. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and able to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced civil litigation practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and e-file legal documents in California State and Federal courts, ensuring compliance with local rules and deadlines

  • Handle filings for civil litigation and arbitration matters

  • Draft, proofread, and finalize pleadings, discovery, motions, correspondence, and legal shell templates

  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, depositions, mediations, teleconferences, and travel for attorneys

  • Communicate with outside counsel and opposing firms to arrange depositions and meetings

  • Maintain attorneys' calendars and track deadlines using a docketing and calendaring system

  • Assist with trial preparation, including organization of exhibits, trial binders, and coordination of logistics

  • Open and close legal files in accordance with firm protocols

  • Manage heavy document production and case-related files with excellent organizational skills

  • Handle correspondence with clients, outside law firms, and insurance carriers

  • Provide administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys simultaneously

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with e-filing systems in both California State and Federal courts

  • Strong working knowledge of civil litigation procedures and arbitration processes

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management software

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
