Job Title:
Systems Monitoring & Integration Engineer - .NET / SolarWinds Focus
Overview:
We are looking for a technically skilled Systems Monitoring and Integration Engineer to oversee the stability and performance of enterprise monitoring systems. This individual will play a key role in supporting and integrating monitoring solutions, with a strong emphasis on .NET applications, IIS, and SolarWinds Orion tools. The role requires a proactive problem-solver with a passion for observability and cross-team collaboration.
What You'll Do:
Set up, manage, and support the SolarWinds Orion suite (including NPM, SAM, and NTA) to ensure reliable infrastructure monitoring
Build and refine dashboards, alerts, and templates for systems and applications performance tracking
Ensure the monitoring environment is secure and up-to-date through regular patches and maintenance
Develop scripts and leverage APIs to streamline monitoring processes and IT workflows
Collaborate with infrastructure, app dev, and security teams to enhance system observability and close operational gaps
Monitor IIS-based applications and assist with .NET system support as needed
Analyze performance metrics and logs to troubleshoot system bottlenecks and identify root causes
Create documentation and train internal staff on monitoring tools and processes
What We're Looking For:
Solid understanding of IIS configuration and experience supporting .NET applications
Proven hands-on experience with the SolarWinds Orion platform, including core modules like NPM, SAM, and NTA
Familiarity with key network concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SNMP, DHCP, routing)
Comfortable working with server environments (Windows and/or Linux)
Experience using APIs and web services (REST, JSON, XML) for integration and automation
Strong problem-solving abilities and experience with basic SQL queries
Motivated to stay current with monitoring technologies and best practices
Bonus Points For:
Hands-on experience with log analysis tools like Splunk
Scripting knowledge in PowerShell or Python
Awareness of CI/CD pipelines or DevOps methodologies
Industry certifications (SolarWinds, Microsoft, CompTIA, etc.)
Exposure to public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Success Traits:
Effective communicator and collaborator across diverse teams
Self-motivated with strong attention to detail
Organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision
