Life Underwriting Senior Analyst
Contract | Fully Remote | Through May 2026

Position Overview
This role involves leading risk assessments and making underwriting decisions for life insurance applications across multiple business segments. Responsibilities span both traditional and accelerated underwriting channels. The position requires effective communication with internal teams and external partners while maintaining high standards of productivity and service.

Key Responsibilities

Risk Assessment and Case Evaluation:
Independently underwrite and assess life insurance applications, including both personal and business-related risks. Process cases through multiple distribution channels, balancing mortality outcomes with service and efficiency. Partner with senior underwriters on complex, medically impaired submissions.

In-Depth Risk Analysis:
Perform detailed reviews of medical history, current health conditions, financial background, occupational exposure, and lifestyle risk factors. Consistently apply underwriting guidelines and exercise sound judgment, especially in non-standard or high-complexity scenarios.

Required Qualifications

  • Analytical & Decision-Making Skills:
Strong ability to interpret complex risk data from both fluid-based and fluidless sources. Able to maintain decision quality while aligning with productivity, cost, and service benchmarks.

  • Medical & Financial Literacy:
Solid grasp of medical concepts, diagnoses, anatomy, and co-morbidities. Understand financial underwriting fundamentals and non-medical risk considerations such as lifestyle and behavioral factors.

  • Communication & Relationship Management:
Excellent written and verbal skills to communicate underwriting decisions, address inquiries, and contribute to a collaborative underwriting environment.

  • Product & Market Knowledge:
Understanding of traditional life insurance products (whole and term life), and familiarity with supplemental coverage options such as chronic illness riders.

  • Accelerated Underwriting Expertise:
Working knowledge of accelerated underwriting, including risk modeling, predictive analytics, and automated decision tools.

  • Technical Adaptability:
Proficient with underwriting platforms and digital tools. Ability to learn and adapt to new systems in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in life insurance underwriting, including exposure to accelerated processes

  • Industry certifications such as FLMI, AALU, or equivalent credentials
