Prominent Fort Lauderdale Law Firm is seeking a Legal Assistant for our Medical Malpractice Defense department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience in Medical Malpractice Defense Litigation.
Essential Functions:
Highly motivated, involved professional who will assist attorneys in a wide range of administrative and legal tasks, including but not limited to:
- Handle transcription and typing
- Draft preliminary letters, pleadings and legal documents for attorney's review
- Calendar case related and company meeting for the attorney. Review calendar daily and prepare attorney for any upcoming court appearances or meetings timely
- Review attorney's incoming mail, faxes, court filings and handle accordingly
- Handle client contact by telephone or email
- Enter attorney's time into system and enter billable time for self
- Coordinate all telephone conferences (incoming and outgoing) required by the attorney
- Coordinate all travel for the attorney and make any necessary reservations
- Coordinate/schedule depositions, mediations, client meetings, etc. with all parties
- Utilize the calendaring system to notate all important dates and events
- Shall perform all assignments promptly and efficiently
