Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of property management accounting, general ledger operations, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting functions for an assigned portfolio of properties.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Record and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments related to property operations.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accuracy of general ledger activity.
  • Review lease agreements to ensure proper accounting for rent, escalations, recoveries, and CAM charges.
  • Prepare and analyze variance reports comparing actual to budgeted results.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes for assigned properties.
  • Coordinate and communicate with property managers, asset managers, and operations teams to resolve accounting issues.
  • Assist with year-end audits and provide necessary schedules and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in property accounting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required).
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in property or real estate accounting.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and accrual-based accounting.
  • Proficiency with property management/accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, Timberline, or similar).
  • Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred, not required.
