An innovative, fast-growing energy company based in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Contracts Attorney with 4+ years of commercial contracting experience to join its expanding legal team. This position is full-time on-site with a lean department that includes the General Counsel, Sr. Contracts Counsel, and Director of Legal Ops.

About the Role

This attorney will manage a wide range of commercial agreements and support all business functions, including engineering, finance, and operationg. The role is ideal for a business-minded, hands-on attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs), and Energy Offtake Agreements
• Support the contracts process from intake to execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and risk tolerance
• Collaborate with internal teams and advise on general corporate and operational legal matters
• Partner with the Director of Legal Operations on process improvements and compliance initiatives

Qualifications

• JD and active bar membership in any state or the District of Columbia
• 4+ years of experience handling commercial contracts
• Energy industry experience a plus; nuclear energy experience highly valued but not required
• Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities
• A direct, solutions-oriented communication style and a willingness to take on varied responsibilities in a small team
• Prior in-house or law firm experience preferred
