Accounting Manager - Manufacturing

A well‑established advanced manufacturing and industrial materials company located in Warren, NJ is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and support continued growth. The company produces engineered components for clients across aerospace, electronics, industrial equipment, and consumer products. This is a great role for someone who enjoys hands‑on accounting but wants manager‑level visibility, partnership with operations, and an active seat in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will oversee the daily accounting function, supervise staff, manage month‑end close, support cost and inventory accounting, and ensure accurate financial reporting. This is a highly operational role with regular collaboration between accounting, supply chain, and production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Prepare and review financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, cash flow)
- Manage inventory and cost accounting, including cycle counts, variance analysis, production reporting, and standard cost updates
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling
- Ensure accuracy of job costing, overhead allocation, and labor reporting
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain on cost drivers, inventory movement, production issues, and margin analysis
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance measures
- Assist with audit preparation and year‑end reporting
- Supervise and develop 1-3 accounting/finance team members
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5-8+ years of accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or industrial environments
- Strong GAAP knowledge and month‑end close expertise
- Experience with inventory accounting, costing, BOMs, and manufacturing workflows
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)
- Experience with modern ERP systems (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Infor, Epicor, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with both finance and operations teams
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and comfortable in a fast‑paced, hands‑on role
Compensation & Schedule
- $100,000-$125,000 base (depending on depth of cost/manufacturing experience)
- Contract‑to‑Hire with strong potential to convert
- On‑site in Warren, NJ (standard manufacturing headquarters environment)
- Full‑time, Monday-Friday
