Controller

Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to manage accounting and financial operations for a privately held industrial organization. This role is ideal for someone with strong cost accounting and inventory experience who enjoys working in a small, collaborative office environment. The position is contract-to-hire with long-term potential.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end and year-end close using Sage MAS 100

• Maintain general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations

• Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)

• Manage inventory valuation, COGS, and cost variance analysis

• Oversee billing, accounts receivable, and collections

• Supervise accounts payable, cash flow, and bank reconciliations

• Oversee payroll, benefits accounting, and compliance

• Build budgets, forecasts, and perform variance analysis

• Serve as Sage MAS 100 system lead and maintain internal controls

• Lead and mentor accounting staff and support leadership initiatives

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience

• Manufacturing, mining, or industrial accounting background

• Hands-on Sage MAS 100 / Sage 100 experience

• Strong inventory and cost accounting skills

• Advanced Excel skills

• CPA preferred but not required
