Beacon Hill is a proud partner to a reputable Medical Company in Chicago. We are currently hiring a Payroll Specialist.

Responsibilities/Duties

The responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist are, but are not limited to:

  • Processed multi-state payroll across multiple pay schedules in Workday with accuracy and compliance.

  • Partnered with HRIS teams on system configuration, testing, and integrations.

  • Managed vacation/sick accruals and ensured timely processing of time-off requests.

  • Handled garnishments, child support orders, and tax levies in full regulatory compliance.

  • Completed employment verifications and coordinated employee record requests with HR Business Partners.

  • Maintained accurate employee data, including new hires, terminations, and job changes in payroll/HRIS systems.

  • Supported health, ancillary, and retirement benefits, including enrollments and terminations.

  • Assisted with year-end processing and W-2 compliance.

  • Performed general payroll and benefits administration duties.

  • Processed documentation with payroll vendors and carriers for accurate deductions and record-keeping.

  • Served as a point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries.

  • Supported monthly benefits reconciliation, ensuring accurate billing and coverage.

  • Managed unemployment claims and COBRA processing.

  • Prepared and analyzed payroll and benefits reports.

  • Drove process improvements and automation across payroll and HR systems.

  • Collaborated with Finance, HR, and external vendors to support smooth operations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, compliance, and best practices.
  • High level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals related to payroll.
