This role supports a wide range of human resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding, HRIS administration, benefits support, policy compliance, and performance management processes. The position also coordinates employee programs and events and serves as a backup to the HR Manager.
Essential Functions
- Manage all aspects of recruitment and onboarding for exempt, non‑exempt, temporary, and intern positions, including job description updates, job postings, applicant tracking, skills testing, background screenings, compensation coordination, new hire documentation, orientation, and HRIS entry.
- Plan and facilitate staff programs, events, and other assigned HR initiatives.
- Respond to employee inquiries on organization policies, procedures, benefits, and payroll, providing accurate information and guidance.
- Provide backup support to the HR Manager on disability accommodations, leave administration, and workers' compensation matters.
- Assist with compensation benchmarking and market analysis.
- Conduct weekly audits of timekeeping records to ensure compliance with meal and rest break requirements; coordinate with payroll to process any required corrective payments.
- Contribute to HR department projects by identifying resources, monitoring milestones, and communicating progress to leadership.
- Coordinate training and development programs, including onboarding sessions, well‑being initiatives, and inclusion offerings.
- Support the offboarding process for voluntary separations.
- Maintain relationships with external staffing agencies and oversee agency contract processes.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to support effective working relationships.
- Utilize organizational resources responsibly and uphold all policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Proficiency with common HR and office software systems (e.g., email, spreadsheets, workflow tools, HRIS) and the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
- Strong understanding of employee data systems and database functionality.
- Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, time‑management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to shifting needs.
- Capacity to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and decision‑making abilities.
- Flexibility to adjust work hours as needed to support operational requirements.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- At least one year of recruiting experience within a professional environment.
- A minimum of three years of related human resources experience within a professional services setting.
