Our client, a global leader in the healthcare sector, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel - Employment & Litigation to provide strategic legal support on employment law matters and oversee the company's litigation portfolio. This attorney will work closely with HR, business leaders, and cross‑functional teams to deliver practical, business‑focused legal guidance in a fast‑moving, growth‑oriented environment.
This role reports to the Associate General Counsel and is based in Fort Worth, TX.
Job Duties:
Employment Law & HR Support
- Provide day‑to‑day legal counseling on federal and state employment laws.
- Advise HR on internal investigations, disciplinary actions, performance management, and terminations.
- Support development and implementation of employment policies, training, and compliance initiatives.
Litigation & Disputes Management
- Manage all aspects of employment and commercial litigation (consumer disputes, healthcare provider matters, and related claims).
- Oversee and partner with outside counsel, including budgeting, strategy, discovery, and witness preparation.
- Maintain accurate litigation tracking and reporting for senior leadership.
- Handle pre‑litigation matters including fact‑finding, risk assessment, resolution strategies, and negotiations.
- Interact with federal and state agencies (e.g., EEOC and equivalent state agencies).
Commercial Contracting & General Support
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements as needed.
- Provide timely, practical legal guidance on issues affecting the business.
- Conduct legal research relevant to company operations.
- Engage effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Travel up to 10% to U.S. locations as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active state bar license in good standing.
- 5-6+ years of legal experience, with strong background in employment law counseling.
- Litigation experience required (employment and/or commercial); law firm experience preferred.
- Familiarity with drafting and negotiating commercial contracts preferred.
- Experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical sectors is highly advantageous.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, agile environment with shifting priorities.
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to partner with business leaders.
