Training Development Specialist
Overview
Our client is seeking a strategic and relationship‑driven Talent Development Specialist to lead the design, development, and delivery of learning programs across the organization. This role partners closely with leaders, field teams, and subject matter experts to build impactful learning journeys, enhance performance, and support a strong people‑first culture. The ideal candidate thrives in fast‑paced environments, excels at project management, and brings deep expertise in adult learning, instructional design, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Location: Plymouth, MN
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Regular Business Schedule
Hybrid - Monday-Wednesday onsite, Thursday and Friday work from home
Salary: $70,000-$80,000 Annually (Depending on previous exp.)
Contract to Hire
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders, department heads, and field teams to evaluate immediate and long‑term learning priorities.
- Design adaptable learning pathways and career progression options for all positions.
- Build and maintain strong cross‑department relationships to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Develop and revise companywide leadership training programs.
- Support leaders in coaching, mentoring, and training employees across multiple functions.
- Lead efforts to introduce and implement new initiatives and organizational changes.
- Contribute to updating and standardizing training procedures, documentation, and tools.
- Help manage and maintain the company's proprietary learning management system and intranet training resources.
- Ensure all training content is consistently branded and presented professionally.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to clarify and address training requirements.
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design practices to build engaging learning materials.
- Assist in creating and delivering learning and development training sessions (virtual and in‑person) and maintain organized records of training assets.
- Conduct ongoing needs assessments to identify key capability, knowledge, and skill gaps.
- Regularly review training programs and job aids to integrate updates and improve delivery methods.
- Produce performance support tools (such as job aids and facilitator guides) in multiple formats.
- Manage full project lifecycles, including defining scope and documentation.
- Create project timelines, monitor deliverables, and provide updates, including coordinating meeting agendas, capturing action items, and ensuring follow‑through.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to ensure talent development efforts support organizational goals.
- Maintain clear communication with all departments throughout project rollouts.
- Troubleshoot and edit training content during and after development.
- Establish and track metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions.
- Assess learning programs using appropriate evaluation methods.
- Identify areas for improvement and adjust programs to enhance quality and cost‑efficiency.
- Support management of the training budget by monitoring expenses and recommending responsible spending.
- Encourage creativity and new ideas within the Talent Development team.
- Respond quickly to organizational needs and provide necessary resources or solutions.
- Verify consistency in meeting agendas and ensure required resources are prepared to move topics forward.
- Work with third‑party partners to source or create training content and events.
- Demonstrate behaviors aligned with a people‑first culture and act as a role model for others.
- Maintain communication with field teams to escalate concerns and strengthen collaboration between corporate and field operations.
- Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of training and development experience.
- 2+ years of sales experience.
- 2+ years of operations or logistics experience.
- Previous LMS software experience required.
- Business improvement consulting experience (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design best practices.
- Experience designing and implementing organization‑wide talent development programs.
- Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.
