Title: PR Specialist
Location: Greater Hartford, CT area
Onsite Requirements: Hybrid
Duration: 3+ months with potential to extend/convert full-time
Must have prior life science industry experience to be considered
Our client is looking for a PR Specialist with a strong foundation in media relations, storytelling, and strategic communications. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys writing, pitching stories, and learning how to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content under the guidance of experienced leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day‑to‑day communications and public relations efforts across multiple initiatives
- Draft and edit press releases, media pitches, talking points, and internal communications
- Help translate technical, scientific, or research‑driven content into accessible stories for broader audiences
- Assist with media outreach, tracking coverage, and maintaining press lists
- Coordinate interviews, briefings, and announcements with internal stakeholders
- Monitor news cycles and identify proactive storytelling opportunities
- Collaborate with marketing, digital, and leadership teams to ensure consistent messaging
- Provide logistical and editorial support during major announcements or time‑sensitive communications
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in communications & public relations,
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and deadlines
- Comfortable juggling multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from feedback
Nice to Have
- Exposure to research, science, health, technology, or academic communications
- Experience working with journalists, media monitoring tools, or content management systems
- Background in journalism, writing, or digital content creation
