Senior Accountant
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Employment Type: Full‑Time - Contract to Hire
Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 base
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations for a growing organization in the professional services / financial operations industry. This role will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month‑end close, and strengthening accounting processes as the business continues to scale. The ideal candidate brings strong GAAP knowledge, hands‑on close experience, and a detail‑oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Maintain general ledger integrity in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Assist with the preparation and analysis of financial statements
Investigate and explain variances and unusual transactions
Support external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests
Help document and improve accounting processes and internal controls
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including FP&A and Operations
Provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years of accounting experience (public or private)
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
Experience with month‑end close and account reconciliations
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar
CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
