Junior Staff Accountant - Pharma

Location: Princeton, NJ
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
CONTRACT TO HIRE


About the Role

A leading pharmaceutical company in Princeton, NJ is seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations, month‑end close activities, and financial reporting within a regulated environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing accountant looking to build experience in pharma, corporate accounting, and ERP systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with journal entries, account coding, and general ledger maintenance
  • Perform bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Support month‑end and year‑end close including accruals and adjusting entries
  • Maintain accurate financial records following GAAP and internal controls
  • Support AP/AR teams with invoice coding, payment posting, and cash application when needed
  • Prepare schedules for internal reporting and external auditors
  • Assist with expense report review and verification
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and compliance on documentation requirements
  • Perform data pulls and updates from ERP systems (SAP/Oracle preferred)
  • Maintain detailed, audit‑ready files in accordance with pharma compliance standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience (internships acceptable)
  • Strong understanding of basic GAAP principles
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced, regulated environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in pharma, biotech, medical device, or manufacturing
  • Exposure to SOX controls or audit processes
  • Familiarity with expense reporting tools (Concur, Workday, etc.)
