Tax Manager (CPA Required)
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead tax planning, compliance, and consulting engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service while managing and mentoring a team of tax professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise tax accountants and senior tax accountants.
- Serve as liaison among senior managers, partners, clients, and staff.
- Oversee all phases of tax engagements, including those related to specialized areas such as FEAS.
- Maintain strong technical expertise in accounting and tax preparation (individual, multi-state, trust, and estate taxation).
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Tax Code and compliance requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for multiple clients, coordinating with attorneys, brokers, and other third parties.
- Provide strategic tax planning and consulting with a focus on tax minimization and risk management.
- Conduct detailed tax research and resolve complex issues.
- Mentor and develop staff through coaching, feedback, and teachable moments.
- Contribute to business development by fostering relationships, prospecting new clients, and following up on leads.
- Stay current on tax laws and industry trends to deliver effective solutions.
- Promote and maintain a positive, collaborative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation or MPA preferred.
- Active CPA license required
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in public accounting, tax consulting, or related field.
- Proven expertise in tax planning, compliance, and consulting for high-net-worth individuals, businesses, and non-profits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and tax research skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Experience supervising and training staff.
- Familiarity with tax software (CCH Engagement and Axcess Tax preferred).
