Finance Director/ Bookkeeper - Full-Time, Onsite
Overview
A large, non profit in the Wayne, PA area is seeking an experienced Finance Director/ Bookkeeper to oversee and manage all financial operations. This role is critical as the current Finance Director is retiring soon, and the organization needs someone who can step in quickly, operate independently, and uphold strong financial stewardship.
This is a one-person accounting department, responsible for all day‑to‑day finance and accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and general ledger management.
Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and month/year‑end processes.
Handle payroll and benefits coordination with confidentiality and accuracy.
Maintain responsibility for asset management and ensure proper financial stewardship in line with organizational values.
Prepare for and support annual audits, working directly with external auditors.
Ensure organizational compliance with internal controls, policies, and financial best practices.
Serve as the primary financial contact for leadership, providing clear reporting and insights.
Use QuickBooks and Microsoft Office 365 to manage financial workflows, reporting, and documentation.
Must‑Have Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Strong experience managing full‑cycle accounting and financial operations.
Ability to run a one-person finance department with limited oversight.
Experience with AP/AR, GL, banking, budgeting, reporting, payroll/benefits, and asset management.
Work Environment & Expectations
Onsite, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Business casual environment with onsite parking available.
Some overlap training provided by the retiring Finance Director (through early March).
Works independently; ideal candidate demonstrates high integrity, strong values, and the ability to manage all financial operations without daily direction.
