Job Summary:
A contract opportunity is available for a motivated and detail-oriented Protein Scientist to support protein biochemistry research within a collaborative lab environment. The successful candidate will contribute to key R&D initiatives by executing a range of protein characterization, expression, and purification tasks. This is a hands-on laboratory role focused on driving innovation in plant science through advanced biochemical techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform ELISA-based protein quantification using automated and semi-automated systems

  • Conduct western blot (WES) assays for protein identification and semi-quantification

  • Execute SDS-PAGE, protease digestion, and gel imaging for protein characterization

  • Prepare biological samples for immunoassays and mass spectrometry analysis

  • Express recombinant proteins in bacterial, yeast, and insect cell systems

  • Purify proteins using various chromatography methods (e.g., affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion)

  • Conduct protein activity and binding assays

  • Analyze experimental data, document findings in electronic systems (e.g., LIMS), and interpret results

  • Support shared laboratory duties, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline; or Bachelor's degree with equivalent industry experience

  • Hands-on experience with ELISA, WES/western blotting, and protein purification techniques

  • Familiarity with liquid handling systems and data management platforms (LIMS)

  • Basic understanding of mass spectrometry workflows

  • Strong analytical thinking and scientific documentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team in a fast-paced setting
