PRODUCTION PLANNER
Job Summary
Coordinate and optimize production schedules to meet customer demand while having cost-effective inventory management. Ensure efficient and timely production of jobs while minimizing production costs. Manages stock levels and provides timely product delivery to our customers.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production schedules, considering lead times, production capacities and resource constraints.
- Collaborate with production teams, customer service, sales, supply chain, and material planning to understand data from demand forecasting and plan production requirements.
- Adjust schedules proactively when changes occur such as material delays, rush jobs, or rework.
- Communicate schedule changes effectively to production leadership.
- Maintain planning and scheduling software.
- Work closely with purchasing to monitor raw material inventory by scheduling stock deliveries for the current month.
- Communicate daily needed art approvals, copybooks, etc. to facilitate meeting scheduled press dates.
- Maintain art status to include tooling.
- Participate in daily meetings for production, material handling, prep, ink, and tooling.
- Release job jackets to plate room in advance of scheduled time.
- Generate a delay list to facilitate informing customers to allow for their schedule changes.
- Follow safety policies and procedures, comply with cGMP standards, and maintain a clean work environment.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, or Engineering or Business Degree
- 3+ years scheduling experience in a manufacturing or printing environment
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team and achieve facility goals
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, business and manufacturing environment
- Capable of prioritizing and executing multiple tasks
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and solve complex process problems
- Ability to change priorities and tasks when necessary
- Strong communication skills
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing preferred
