We're seeking a confident and experienced Temporary HR Generalist to join a well-established construction company in Wake County. This individual will step in to support the HR function during a 4-month leave and play a critical role in managing the employee life cycle for a large workforce in the paving and grading division.

The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced, field-based environment, is comfortable being direct, and has experience supporting managers in performance conversations and employee relations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a trusted HR partner to field managers and employees

• Support the full employee life cycle, including onboarding, performance management, and offboarding

• Provide coaching to managers during performance reviews and employee relations issues

• Assist with training and development initiatives, including launching the company's annual training program

• Manage and support performance improvement plans (PIPs)

• Help ensure fair and consistent communication

• Provide backup support to the recruiting function during slower hiring periods

• Collaborate closely with the HR team including Recruiters, Onboarding Specialists, other Generalists, and HR Leadership

• Utilize ADP for HRIS functions and employee record management

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HRBP role

• Background in construction, light industrial, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred

• Strong interpersonal and coaching skills

• Working knowledge of HR compliance, employee relations, and performance management

• Experience with ADP is a plus
