Seeking a construction accountant to join its accounting and contract administration team. The position requires a team player who communicates well, is detail oriented, and preferably has both accounting and construction administration experience. To be successful in this position the candidate needs to be highly organized, able to multi-task efficiently, have a strong Word and Excel skillset, and able to coordinate with project managers, field superintendents and office personnel. The role is varied, and responsibilities to include assisting in month-end close, limited billing and accounts payable assistance, field payroll, sales & use tax, lien waiver administration and subcontract/purchase administration.
Main Responsibilities
- Processing of weekly multi-state field payroll and all related tax payments
- Multi- State Sales Tax Reporting for various states on a monthly/quarterly basis
- Subcontract & PO Approvals - verification of the inclusion of certain contract requirements
- Closing of Projects - research and processing
- Limited AP Processing of Retainage payments
- Distribution of ACH Lien Waivers and ACH payment verification and compliance
- Assist controller in monthly closings as needed; assist with journal entries and GL reconcilements
- Light administrative duties as needed, including:
- Supply inventory and ordering on monthly basis
- Tracking/Distribute Company Vehicle Registration and Insurance Cards
- Tracking of Superintendent Tool Inventory
- AP backup - as needed
- Assist with special projects, and research as necessary
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience in construction, job-costing, and progress billing
- Organized and professional attitude
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Associates degree in accounting with 2+ years experience OR 5+ years experience in any construction role (accounting/administrative)
- Knowledge of GAAP
Other Desired Qualifications
- Experience with progress billings and AIA Payment Applications
- Working knowledge of Certificates of Insurance and Lien Waivers
- Working knowledge of Notice of Subcontracts and Notice of Payments
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional sales & use tax reporting
- Payroll experience
