Our client, a prominent law firm in Philadelphia, is seeking a Human Resources Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight of all HR functions, including payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance. This individual will play a key role in shaping firm-wide HR policies, advancing operational efficiency, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing workplace culture.

About the Job

  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing in full compliance with federal and state tax laws.
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including open enrollment, plan renewals, and vendor management.
  • Serve as plan administrator for the firm's 401(k) program and participate in Pension Committee meetings.
  • Lead all aspects of staff recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding, ensuring compliance with applicable employment regulations.
  • Manage leaves of absence, including FMLA, parental, short- and long-term disability, and related reporting requirements.
  • Oversee employee performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching, and improvement plans.
  • Serve as a key member of the Health Insurance and Pension Committees, contributing to benefit strategy and policy design.
  • Direct employee relations matters and ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
  • Implement HR technology solutions to improve process efficiency and data accuracy.

About You

  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR role-law firm experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven expertise in payroll, benefits administration, recruitment, and employee relations.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, compliance, and 401(k) administration.
  • Skilled in strategic HR planning, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree required; PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading HR functions within a professional services or legal environment.
