Job Description: Oracle DBA
Location: Hybrid in Madison, WI
Duration: 6 months (with high potential for conversion to a full-time employee)
Role Overview: We are seeking a highly experienced Oracle DBA to join our team on a hybrid basis in Madison, WI. This senior-level role involves managing large enterprise databases, automating processes, and ensuring optimal database performance. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in shoring up Oracle systems, automating patching, and contributing to documentation and network diagrams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain Oracle databases, including large databases (~10TB+) with significant monthly growth.
- Utilize RAC (Real Application Clusters) and RMAN (Recovery Manager) for database management and recovery.
- Develop and implement automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, or other scripting languages to streamline database processes.
- Write and maintain test plans, network diagrams, and other documentation to support database operations.
- Perform performance tuning and optimization for Oracle databases.
- Participate in the automation of database and grid patching, ensuring systems are updated efficiently and effectively.
- Administer Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for database monitoring and management.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with GoldenGate for data replication and high availability.
- Familiarity with Centrally Managed Users (CMU) for authentication.
- Knowledge of Oracle Utilities Application Framework (OUAF) and Customer to Meter (CTM).
- Expertise in partitioning, Information Lifecycle Management (ILM), and advanced compression techniques.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, managing large, complex databases in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with RAC and RMAN.
- Strong communication skills with a proven ability to document processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proven experience in automating database operations and patching processes.
- Ability to evaluate and implement best practices for database management and automation.
Work Schedule:
- Standard hours: 40-45 hours per week, with minimal on-call rotation (once every 5 weeks).
- No weekend work required.
