Position Summary
As an Insurance Pricing Analyst, you'll dive into healthcare cost analysis, assess insurance plan performance, and empower clients to make smart financial decisions on employee benefits. You'll drive underwriting, financial modeling, and data insights, collaborating with consultants, account managers, and carriers to deliver game-changing strategies in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical claims data, demographics, and plan performance to craft funding recommendations and pricing models.
  • Review and negotiate carrier renewals, securing competitive, client-centric options.
  • Compare costs across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits lines.
  • Create data-driven reports, financial exhibits, and polished client presentations.
  • Generate recurring claims reports and custom financial models/tools for tailored insights.
  • Harness large healthcare datasets (medical and pharmacy claims) to spot trends and forecast risks.
  • Partner with consultants and account managers on dashboards, benchmarking, and risk assessments.
  • Participate in client meetings, presenting underwriting results, renewal strategies, and actionable recommendations.
  • Build and maintain strong carrier relationships while staying ahead of underwriting trends, practices, and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in health and welfare benefits underwriting within consulting, brokerage, or insurance settings.
  • Solid knowledge of employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary plans.
  • Expertise in self-funded, fully insured, and alternative funding arrangements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, modeling, data visualization).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and other Office suite tools.
  • Proven ability to interpret and analyze large healthcare datasets (medical, Rx, disability, etc.).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex info clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to juggle priorities and deadlines in a high-energy, client-driven setting.
  • Team-oriented collaborator who excels independently when required.
