Description
A well-established non-profit organizatio is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team. This role plays an important part in supporting financial operations and ensuring accuracy, accountability, and transparency in reporting. The position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Budget and General Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process data imports and journal entries from donor and fundraising databases into the general ledger system; review and report discrepancies.

  • Prepare and book journal entries to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls.

  • Support the annual financial statement audit and IRS Form 990 preparation, including coordinating with auditors and preparing schedules.

  • Prepare reconciliations of receivables and revenues; generate reports on collections and pledge balances.

  • Assist with monthly closing, dashboards, and key performance indicators.

  • Contribute to process automation, streamlining, and efficiency improvements.

  • Support data collection for annual budgeting; participate in budget review meetings and assist with system input.

  • Provide back-up support for Accounts Payable and donor processing during peak periods.

  • Collaborate with Finance leadership on projects and workload support.

  • Prepare and file monthly local tax returns and annual census reports.

  • Complete bank reconciliations and assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with Sage Intacct preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills.
