Overview:
A construction group is looking to add an accounting specialist to their team. This role will focus on supporting the accounting function with responsibilities in accounts payable processing, credit card reconciliations, and payroll preparation. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and some familiarity with the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and manage Accounts Payable (A/P) transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
- Perform credit card reconciliations and assist with collections as needed.
- Prepare payroll data for processing, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure proper coding and allocation of expenses.
- Support audits and provide documentation as requested.
- Stay informed on basic construction accounting practices and job cost tracking.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1+ years of accounting experience; exposure to construction industry is a plus.
- Basic understanding of payroll processes and A/P workflows.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required); experience with accounting software preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with construction accounting concepts such as job costing and progress billing.
- Experience with ERP or construction-specific accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, or similar).
