Overview:

A well-established insurance management firm seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support the planning, reporting, and accounting functions for an assigned portfolio. This role offers a unique blend of accounting, financial analysis, and exposure to insurance‑specific reporting.

This position is ideal for candidates coming from public accounting or those with insurance industry exposure who are looking for broader responsibility and long‑term growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting for multiple captive insurance entities
  • Assist with financial modeling related to new clients, products, and business opportunities
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Support general ledger activities, cash accounting, and disbursements
  • Help maintain and enhance financial reporting processes across budgeting, forecasting, and actuals
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on financial analysis and business planning
  • Assist external CPAs with audits and tax filings
  • Support regulatory and compliance reporting requirements
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience within public accounting, insurance, or another relative industry
  • CPA (or pursuing certification) is preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP; exposure to tax accounting is a plus
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Advanced Excel skills (financial modeling, large datasets, complex formulas)
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
