Position Overview:

The Retail Accounting Manager oversees the day-to-day accounting operations for the retail division, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, and timely month-end close. This role partners closely with operations, merchandising, and corporate finance teams to align financial performance with business goals and optimize profitability across all retail locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and supervise daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.

• Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes; prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.

• Monitor cash flow, sales reporting, and inventory accounting for multiple retail locations.

• Analyze store-level P&L statements to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction or revenue improvement.

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.

• Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts in collaboration with store managers and department heads.

• Manage sales tax filings, retail audits, and external audit preparation.

• Maintain and enhance internal controls to safeguard company assets.

• Train and develop accounting staff; provide leadership and performance feedback.

• Work cross-functionally with IT and operations to streamline POS and ERP system integrations.
