Property Accountant - Chevy Chase, MD

Overview:
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Chevy Chase, MD seeking a Property Accountant to support the accounting and financial reporting functions for a portfolio of commercial properties. This fully onsite role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with experience in property-level accounting and a solid understanding of lease and expense recovery structures, including CAM reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements for assigned properties in accordance with GAAP.

• Perform month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.

• Manage property-level general ledger activity, including bank reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.

• Review rent rolls, tenant billings, and lease abstracts to ensure accurate revenue recognition.

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes for property operations and capital expenditures.

• Assist with operating expense reviews and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with lease terms.

• Coordinate with property managers and internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies and support operational needs.

• Assist with audit requests and maintain organized financial documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Working knowledge of CAM reconciliations and property expense recoveries.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and property management or accounting software.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
