Seeking a Controller for a growing nonprofit organization in Cleveland, OH. The Controller will oversee and manage the organization's financial operations, ensuring that funds are allocated and spent effectively in alignment with the organization's mission and financial goals. This role involves managing accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and assisting with audits. The Controller will collaborate closely with senior management to make data-driven financial decisions and provide financial insights to guide the strategic direction of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the financial operations of the organization, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with GAAP and non-profit standards.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Coordinate and assist with audits, ensuring all documentation is provided in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and manage the annual budget, including forecasting and monitoring expenses.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to senior leadership, enabling data-driven decisions for the organization's growth.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax filings and grant reporting.
  • Work closely with the Development team to track donor funds and ensure proper allocation and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in non-profit accounting or finance, including experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and audits.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, non-profit accounting principles, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with [specific software] is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
