JOB DESCRIPTION
HEALTHCARE AUTHORIZATIONS SPECIALIST: DETAILS

Title: Healthcare Authorizations Specialist
Location: Brentwood TN
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: $21/hour
Type: Contract to hire
Hours: 8am-5pm CT | Monday-Friday | 40 hours

REQUIREMENTS: HEALTHCARE AUTHORIZATIONS SPECIALIST
* 1-3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in authorizations, billing, or patient access.
* Proficient with excel
* Familiarity with insurance plans (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, HMOs, PPOs).
* Experience with EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks) and insurance portals preferred.
* Working knowledge in Medicare, Commercial, and insurance regulations and policies

RESPONSIBILITIES: HEALTHCARE AUTHORIZATIONS SPECIALIST
* Obtain authorizations through portals, fax, or calling to various payers following their guidelines.
* Enter authorizations into system so claims can be billed
* Run report to ensure that renewed authorizations can be obtain in a timely manner
* Willingness to cross train per company needs (example: credits, patient billing, etc.)
* Excel knowledge is a must
* Responsible for obtaining and verifying prior authorizations for medical procedures, imaging, medications, and other healthcare services.
* This role ensures that all necessary approvals are secured from insurance providers in a timely manner to avoid delays in patient care and to ensure proper reimbursement for services rendered.
* Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for procedures, surgeries, medications, and diagnostic services.
* Verify insurance eligibility and coverage details for patients.
* Coordinate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to gather and submit required documentation.
* Track authorization requests and follow up regularly to ensure timely approval.
* Document all authorization activities in the patient's electronic health record (EHR) or billing system.
