Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant supports the Business Office in delivering services related to accounting, finance, budgeting, risk management, and overall operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare internal and audited financial statements.
  • Prepare Form 990.
  • Maintain daily accounting records for operations.
  • Manage tuition and fee billing and tracking.
  • Process and collect accounts receivable.
  • Process and pay accounts payable.
  • Record cash receipts.
  • Reconcile bank statements.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and subledgers.
  • Ensure proper implementation of internal controls, including segregation of duties.
  • Support preparation of the operating budget.
  • Monitor budgets and provide timely updates.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians with a focus on exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain organized records in line with record retention guidelines.
  • Manage and maintain the general ledger system.
  • Record tuition assistance awards.
  • Release and track tuition assistance funding sources.
  • Provide leadership with financial information to support decision-making.
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems, implementing process improvements as needed.
  • Assess the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases.
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by the Chief Financial & Operations Officer

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or concentration in Accounting).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to cultural competency and continuous learning.
  • Proven ability to complete assignments accurately and on time.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak periods and special events.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications.
