Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant supports the Business Office in delivering services related to accounting, finance, budgeting, risk management, and overall operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare internal and audited financial statements.
- Prepare Form 990.
- Maintain daily accounting records for operations.
- Manage tuition and fee billing and tracking.
- Process and collect accounts receivable.
- Process and pay accounts payable.
- Record cash receipts.
- Reconcile bank statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and subledgers.
- Ensure proper implementation of internal controls, including segregation of duties.
- Support preparation of the operating budget.
- Monitor budgets and provide timely updates.
- Communicate with parents/guardians with a focus on exceptional customer service.
- Maintain organized records in line with record retention guidelines.
- Manage and maintain the general ledger system.
- Record tuition assistance awards.
- Release and track tuition assistance funding sources.
- Provide leadership with financial information to support decision-making.
- Evaluate accounting and internal control systems, implementing process improvements as needed.
- Assess the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting databases.
- Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by the Chief Financial & Operations Officer
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or concentration in Accounting).
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to cultural competency and continuous learning.
- Proven ability to complete assignments accurately and on time.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during peak periods and special events.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Microsoft applications.
