Senior Valuation Associate - Alternative Investments
Overview
A leading global investment firm with over $50B in assets under management is seeking a Senior Valuation Associate. This role offers exposure to complex valuation work across private credit and equity investments, supporting a dynamic portfolio spanning multiple industries. This is a hybrid position, requiring three days per week in-office.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quarterly valuation analyses on companies and securities using internal valuation models.
- Monitor portfolio company performance, including financial spreading and analytics.
- Communicate trends and performance drivers to senior management and report on credit metrics.
- Liaise with deal teams, finance/operations teams, and external valuation consultants.
- Synthesize data to support, challenge, and reconcile conclusions, including back-testing and stress-testing.
- Recommend enhancements to valuation processes and methodologies in line with best practices.
- Manage external valuation audit processes, including internal controls.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flows).
- Familiarity with capital markets, corporate securities, and capital structures; experience with financial modeling.
- Strong financial statement analysis skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines with superior organizational skills.
- Ability to interpret complex legal documents.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desired Background
- 2+ years of accounting/finance experience with exposure to valuation techniques (DCF, market comparables).
- Background in private credit, valuation consulting, or Big 4 accounting firm.
- Preference for prior credit/direct lending experience.
- Progress toward CPA license or CFA charter a plus.
Compensation
$90,000 - $110,000 + bonus and best-in-class benefits
