Accounting Specialist - Washington, DC

Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC in their search for an Accounting Specialist to join their team. This is a full-time, hybrid position responsible for supporting a variety of accounting functions, with a focus on accounts payable, reconciliations, expense reporting, and month-end activities. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timely payments

  • Review and verify expense reports, ensuring receipts are attached and compliant with company policies

  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies as needed

  • Assist with accrual accounting and preparing supporting schedules

  • Support the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries and assisting with reporting needs

  • Maintain and organize accounting documentation to ensure compliance with audit requirements

  • Monitor workload within the accounts payable function and ensure timely completion of tasks

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve inquiries related to invoices, expenses, and reconciliations

  • Utilize Workday to process transactions and ensure accurate data management


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

  • Experience with Workday or similar accounting/ERP systems

  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting and reconciliations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • High attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
