Senior Accountant - Fairfax County, VA

Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a locally based client in Fairfax County, VA in the search for a Senior Accountant to join their growing team. This position will play a key role in managing the month-end closing process and supporting all aspects of government compliance and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint and in-depth knowledge of DCAA and DCMA regulations. This is a full-time, on-site position. If interested, please apply with your most up-to-date resume

Essential Job Duties:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for DCAA and DCMA audits, including preparation and submission of annual incurred cost proposals and provisional indirect rate packages

  • Utilize Deltek Costpoint to manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accuracy across financial systems

  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to assist with quarterly estimated tax payments and annual filings

  • Work closely with the Controller and payroll team to ensure operational continuity and support key initiatives

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal government accounting standards, integrating best practices into all financial processes

  • Monitor and track budget activity to ensure alignment with authorized funding, anticipating shortfalls or overages

  • Compile audit-ready financial reports and monthly financial statements for leadership and external stakeholders

  • Ensure compliance with government contract accounting regulations, internal policies, and federal/state/local financial laws

  • Contribute to the development of pricing strategies and cost estimates for proposals and new business opportunities

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to interpret and present financial data in a clear and strategic manner

  • Oversee internal controls to ensure proper tracking of expenditures and adherence to project budgets

  • Continuously improve and maintain financial planning, reporting, and budgeting systems

  • Act as liaison with banking institutions and provide required financial and compliance reports

  • Partner with insurance brokers to manage corporate (non-benefits-related) policy documentation and renewals

  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive financial information and business strategies

  • Identify financial risks in collaboration with department leaders and help implement proactive mitigation plans
