Senior Staff Accountant - Bethesda, MD

Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Bethesda, MD in their search for a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team. This is a full-time, on-site position responsible for performing and reviewing key accounting functions, assisting with month-end and year-end close, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements

  • Oversee and participate in the month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting

  • Perform variance analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and external reporting requirements

  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries

  • Maintain and update records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial operations and provide insights for management decisions

  • Assist with the development and improvement of accounting procedures and internal controls


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with common accounting software

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
