Accounting Operations & Compliance Manager - Washington, DC

Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a local organization to identify a highly detail‑oriented Accounting Operations & Compliance Manager who will manage and streamline a large volume of deadline‑driven, compliance‑focused accounting activities across a diverse portfolio of community associations. This position is well‑suited for someone who thrives under pressure, enjoys coordinating multiple simultaneous deadlines, and ensures each deliverable moves through the process accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

We're seeking a candidate with a strong background in accounting operations, solid familiarity with audit and tax procedures, and the leadership ability to guide staff while reinforcing structure, clarity, and accountability throughout all processes. If you excel at creating scalable workflows, maintaining thorough documentation, and supporting cross‑departmental accounting functions, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee federal, state, and local tax filing processes for community associations, collaborating closely with auditors and tax preparers.
  • Direct compliance workflows-collecting required documents, preparing approval packages, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring submissions are completed on time.
  • Manage regulatory portals, system permissions, and association-level registrations.
  • Coordinate tax‑related disbursements, property tax monitoring, allocations, and true‑up activities with internal accounting teams.
  • Assist in annual budget development, including updating templates, validating fees, and performing quality assurance reviews.
  • Lead audit‑related processes such as timeline coordination, request list management, document collection, draft reviews, and entry of audit adjustments.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding of associations by handling GL mapping, bank account reviews, balance imports, and data migration tasks.
  • Develop and maintain trackers, calendars, and checklists to enhance workflow visibility and reduce last‑minute issues.
  • Document procedures, identify inefficiencies, and recommend enhancements to strengthen operational effectiveness.
  • Supervise and support a team of accounting professionals to ensure compliance tasks are executed accurately and on time.
