Accounting Manager - Washington, DC


Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a local organization in the search for a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join their finance team. This position will report directly to the Assistant Director of Finance and play a key role in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and month‑end close processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership ability, deep accounting knowledge, and experience managing fast‑paced operational finance environments. Primary Responsibilities:

* Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
* Review and analyze balance sheet accounts, ensure accuracy of journal entries, and maintain supporting schedules
* Supervise and guide accounting staff, providing training, task delegation, and performance feedback
* Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable activity to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and proper coding
* Maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and audit standards
* Support budgeting and forecasting processes by compiling financial data and preparing variance analyses
* Conduct monthly close procedures including accruals, account reconciliations, and financial review meetings
* Collaborate with department leaders to provide financial insights, reporting support, and process improvements
* Assist with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries
* Review and monitor cash activity, prepare bank reconciliations, and support cash flow forecasting
* Maintain organized financial records and ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and audit‑ready
* Participate in policy updates, system improvements, and special projects as assigned
* Provide strong customer service to internal departments and external partners while handling inquiries professionally
