Junior Accountant / Accounts Receivable - Washington, DC
Beacon Hill Financial is partnering with a reputable organization in Washington, DC to bring a Junior Accountant / Accounts Receivable Specialist to their team. This in-office role is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to gain hands-on experience in receivables and general ledger functions. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of accounting or AR experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Generate and send customer invoices in accordance with contract terms and billing schedules.
Process and apply incoming payments (checks, ACH, wires) to appropriate customer accounts.
Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances via phone and email.
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, short payments, and unapplied cash.
Support month-end close activities, including preparation of AR-related journal entries and reconciliations.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and internal reporting.
Collaborate with the finance team to improve billing processes and enhance AR tracking.
