Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a non-profit client in the search for a new Controller to join their team. This role will report directly to the CFO and will be in charge of managing the full-cycle accounting process, including overseeing both month-end close and the annual audit process. Prior managerial experience is preferred as this role will supervise three direct reports. Essential Job Duties
Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and cash management
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements and reporting
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Maintain internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local regulations, and donor requirements
Manage restricted and unrestricted fund accounting and ensure proper allocation of revenues and expenses
Collaborate with program and development teams to support grant reporting, compliance, and budget monitoring
Coordinate and oversee annual financial audits and preparation of Form 990
Support preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses for senior management and the board
Assist in developing financial strategies that align with the organization's long-term goals
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting and operational efficiency
