Position Overview
This position serves as a key strategic partner to the CFO and senior leadership team, responsible for driving the district’s financial strategy, ensuring equitable resource distribution, and supporting student success through strong fiscal stewardship. This role oversees budget development, multi-year financial planning, financial operations, compliance, and team leadership for the Finance Office. You’ll play a visible role across the district, collaborating with school and network leaders, external partners, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilites

Support the implementation of strategic financial strategies that maximize funds and ensure equitable resource distribution.

Lead development of the district’s annual budget and multi-year financial plans in collaboration with campus and network leaders.

Partner with the CFO to manage annual capital planning and monitoring processes aligned to programmatic goals.

Ensure compliance with charter authorizer requirements, bondholder and financial institution obligations, and all state and federal financial regulations.

Represent the district on budgetary matters at public hearings and external stakeholder meetings.

Oversee performance of the Finance Office to ensure strong financial controls, effective budget monitoring, efficient operations, and high-quality service to schools and departments.

Forecast short- and long-term cash requirements to inform equitable funding mechanisms.

Oversee preparation and presentation of monthly budget reports and annual financial projections.

Support annual financial audits, external reporting, and grants-related financial reporting.

Promote the Finance Office’s role in serving students, families, staff, and community partners.

Ensure effective use and implementation of Finance Office systems (e.g., Vena, ADP, Coupa) to improve insights and data visualization.

Provide project management oversight for priority financial initiatives, including tracking tools and performance monitoring.

Implement strong internal controls and ensure accurate accounting records.

Serve as a thought partner to department leaders, building their capacity as fiscal stewards.

Develop systems to gather stakeholder feedback for improving budget processes, transparency, and fiscal stewardship.

Communicate financial data clearly to broad audiences to strengthen transparency, trust, and shared learning.

Lead and coach a high-performing Finance team aligned to a shared vision of operational excellence.

Support staff in developing and executing project plans to meet goals.

Build positive, collaborative relationships with internal staff, school leaders, and community partners.

Ensure staff maintain current knowledge of financial requirements, best practices, and systems.
