Job Duties (Essential & Complex Responsibilities)

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of payroll operations for 1,200+ employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with all federal and state regulations.
  • Administer payroll tax compliance, filings, audits, and reporting; coordinate with external agencies and auditors.
  • Perform complex account reconciliations, including intercompany, bank, AP/AR, and balance sheet accounts, ensuring proper documentation and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across payroll and accounting functions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR and Finance to align payroll data with benefits, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow operations.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives, system upgrades, and automation projects; supervise and mentor accounting/payroll staff to ensure continuous development and operational excellence.

Qualifications (Essential Requirements)

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master's preferred.
  • CPA or CMA certification highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of operational accounting experience with direct payroll oversight, preferably in a multi-state environment.
  • Strong proficiency in ADP or similar payroll systems, with advanced Excel and financial reporting skills.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and compliance requirements related to payroll and accounting.
