Job Duties
- Provide leadership and daily oversight for the client accounting team, including hiring, supervising, mentoring, training, and handling disciplinary actions.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with Owner Policies, Procedures, Management Agreements, and SOC1 controls through regular audits and reviews of financial statements, reconciliations, and reports.
- Manage Treasury functions, including disbursement approvals and acting as signatory on client bank accounts.
- Oversee and coordinate client transitions (onboarding and offboarding), ensuring due diligence and documentation of Owner/Client requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements in client accounting functions, policies, and team communication in collaboration with Property Management leaders.
- Maintain regular communication with Owner Representatives, clients, internal/external auditors, and tax preparers to ensure alignment and compliance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of commercial real estate property management accounting experience, including at least 3 years in an accounting leadership role.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, cash and accrual accounting, CAM reconciliations, financial reporting, operating expense reconciliations, and budget preparation processes.
- Proficiency in real estate accounting software MRI (Yardi a plus) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe.
- Demonstrated ability to implement internal controls, train staff, and apply accounting best practices with strong organizational and communication skills.
